Grüezi mitenand #FlySWISS followers!
My name is Reeta, I’m 34 years old, and I’m an Avionics Engineer at SWISS Aircraft Systems Engineering here in Zurich. My daily job is to see that our SWISS aircraft are maintained safely and by the book. I work in the office, but often we System Engineers help with troubleshooting or with some of the more unusual tasks or with modifications to the aircraft.
My aviation career started in 2004 in Finland after graduating as a Bachelor of Engineering. I gained my work experience at Finnair as an Avionics System Engineer, and after seven years I moved to London to work for Monarch Airlines in their Design Services as an Avionics Project Engineer, designing avionic system installations. In August 2014 I moved to Zurich to work for SWISS and I am very happy in our very international Aircraft Systems Engineering office. We have eight different nationalities among our 17 engineers, and our working language is English. We are responsible for the continuing airworthiness of the SWISS fleet, and we control all the aircraft modifications and write the instructions for the aircraft engineers in our Line and Hangar Maintenance. We all have our own areas of responsibility, and mine are the Cockpit Indication/Recording Systems, Communication Systems, Onboard Maintenance Systems and Aircraft Software Management. Currently we are getting ready to receive our new aircraft types next year, the Boeing 777 and the Bombardier CSeries.
I wish I could show you the more interesting side of engineering work here at SWISS. I am proud of being the Instagramer of August for @FlySWISS.
