Inside SWISS, Outside Switzerland – Italy

Buongiorno a tutti da Milano, the capital city of fashion. I could not come from any another part of the world. I’m partly addicted to shopping and I’m very lucky to look after a “shopping window” on the Internet.

In fact, I’m responsible for the online content for SWISS Italy – it’s like running a shop! Via SWISS.COM, the SWISS Newsletter and our different online channels, all our destinations are well presented and made very attractive to our customers. Working for SWISS fits perfectly well with my own passion: I sell great service, a product offering a broad choice of beautiful destinations all over the world and 17 daily chances to travel to wonderful Switzerland from Milan, Rome, Venice, Florence and Bari. And during the summer holiday period my shop offers an even greater selection of destinations in Italy: Catania, Lamezia Terme and Olbia. My online shop is running very well indeed.

I’ve been working in the airline business for the past 16 years now. What I enjoy most is the opportunity to accrue experience in different areas of the airport: from ticket counter to customer relations and, now, in marketing. Changing my position from time to time has enabled me to acquire broad knowledge about the airline industry and to understand the needs of customers and colleagues. Over the years I have realized that there are many challenges in a global industry. Just think, for example, about what happened as a result of the cloud of volcanic ash in 2010! What is really important for an airline is how problems can be managed. I think SWISS is very strong in this regard.

Some of the aspects of working for SWISS that I appreciate most are: having the chance to meet people from other countries; independence in my daily work that allows me to provide a personal touch and, by doing so, really making a difference for the customer; being able to travel to beautiful places all over the world; and sharing my days with great colleagues and having a cappuccino with them every day :-).

The SWISS Milan team is small in number. That forces us to handle different projects every day. My daily work is anything but boring. From talking to my friends I realize that I am very lucky, because I’m always enthusiastic about my job and have been ever since beginning my career at SWISS. And there has also been a nice little unexpected side effect: my cooking skills have improved! The SWISS team in Italy includes many women. And somehow it happens that during our daily lunches we talk a lot about recipes and food, which I guess fits quite well with the stereotype about being Italian :-). And speaking about stereotypes: punctuality, precision, respecting rules, tidiness ….. all of these are true of SWISS and Switzerland.
